3. GRAD SEEKING ASSISTANCE:

Dave Duff (USNA '90) recently reached out to the USNA alumni network for assistance in making contacts in the Denver/Boulder area. The following was passed along by Biznet member J.J. Mackin (USNA '66). If you can offer Dave any advice or assistance, please reach out to him directly via the contact information below. You can also view his profile on LinkedIn at http://www.linkedin.com/pub/david-duff/2/943/277

Dave writes as follows:

My name is Dave Duff, and I’m a USNA grad currently living with my wife
(Patricia) and 2 young children (Drew and Paige) in Winter Springs, Florida.

I’m planning to re-locate my family to Boulder, CO this year because
seasonal allergies are impacting our quality of life here in Central Florida. I’m reaching out to you because it’s difficult to make a major location
change without contacts in the new place. Would you be willing to pass along
contact information of Recruiters/Managers/Directors you may know?

My area of expertise is Information Technology Project Management. I have 11 years with Science Applications International Corporation, and 10 years of service as a
Marine before that. My commitment to move my family to Boulder this summer is strong. I'm targeting well established companies like IBM, VMware, and L3, but would enjoy contributing at a smaller firm if the work was interesting and challenging.

Thanks for considering my request.

2 WP Grads taking on Colorado Trail for Charity

Anyone In Colorado willing to support and encourage 2 WP grads?

West Point Class of 1970 has a continuing campaign to donate to the National Conference on Ethics in America. Two Grads, (USMA 1970 Cadet Company E2) Whit Wise and Dave Schroeder have decided to hike the Colorado Trail (from June 17 through July 26, 2012), which runs from Waterton Canyon just west of Denver across the mountains and ends in Southwest Colorado at the town of Durango. It is almost 486 miles long and runs as high as 13300 feet in elevation. They also plan to hike to the top of one or two 14000 foot peaks which lie near the trail. 4 Grads  (E-2 members) have pledged up to a dollar per mile for the total miles completed by Whit and Dave, meaning a commitment of up to $1000 if (actually, when) they both complete the hike. Injuries, accidents, illness, weather problems, lack of commitment and possibly wild animals are the only things standing in their way.

Please consider signing this pledge form to contribute to the ongoing USMA 1970 NCEA Fund Raising Campaign:

4. RECENT TECHNICAL ISSUES WITH BIZNET POSTS:

Hopefully the recent issues with formatting and erroneous posts are now behind us. Guess we'll find out when this post goes out today. :) It started with an unannounced upgrade by Google to their e-blogger tool which we use, which changed some default settings for formatting. Think we have that one figured out now. As to how it also resulted in an old post from January being sent again...don't know. That old post was regarding a request for proposals (RFP) by Bill Sumner. Please disregard that, as Bill did get what he needed. My apologies to Bill for any resulting hassles with inquiries on that.

Ft Hood Event: Vietnam veterans will be recognized

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
 DATE: May 2, 2012 1:44:34 PM CDT

Fort Hood recalls all Vietnam vets

From the Commanding General...

FORT HOOD, Texas -- The III Corps commanding general would like all Vietnam
veterans to join Fort Hood in a Vietnam Veterans Welcome Home Ceremony May
21 as part of the Corps' Phantom Warrior Week.

During the ceremony, Vietnam veterans will receive the same fanfare
present-day Soldiers receive when they return from Iraq and Afghanistan. The
veterans will parade onto Sadowski Field in front of hundreds, perhaps
thousands of supporters who appreciate the sacrifices they made 50 years
ago.

After the ceremony, veterans are invited to view the traveling Vietnam Wall
and static military vehicle displays. The day will end with a festive
barbecue.

Vietnam veterans who are interested in participating in the Welcome Home
Ceremony, can register online by clicking on the Phantom Warrior Week logo
here.

REGISTER HERE!

While Vietnam veterans will be notably recognized on the parade field, all
veterans are invited to attend the events and should also register. Some
events have limited availability and will be open on a first come basis.

During the week, various sporting events will be held for the active-duty
Soldiers and at the weeks' end, May 24, Vietnam veterans are invited to
participate in the III Corps Commanding General Lt. Gen. Don Campbell Jr.'s
"Pass in Review" with Fort Hood units on Sadowski Field prior to the
presentation of the coveted Commander’s Cup.
