3.  USMA '72 BANQUET WITH COACH BOBBY KNIGHT AT KEYSTONE ON 6/22/13 (open to all service academy grads & guests):

Biznet member Larry Aubrecht (USMA '72) writes as follows:

TO: Denver Alumni Association/Pikes Peak Alumni Association/BizNet

Last fall the West Point Class of 72 decided to follow the example of a number of other classes and begin to have annual mini reunions between the 5 year reunions held at West Point. As a starter, we decided to piggyback off of one held by the Class of 71 in Keystone last year.

Ours is being held this year starting on Wednesday, June 19th going through Sunday, June 23rd with a main banquet being held the evening of Saturday at the Keystone Conference Center starting with a Benny Havens Hour at 6 pm and the dinner starting at 7 pm. Those wanting to stay for a few nights can use our reservation code for our discounted room rates – see below.

The highlight of the evening will be a presentation of the Class of 72 “Proud & True” Leadership award with honorary class membership to Coach Bobby Knight who coached the West Point basketball team between 1965 and 1971 winning 102 games during that period. For our plebe year, the team was 18-10 going to the NIT and those wins along with going to the NIT were sorely appreciated by us as plebes that year. He was 24 years old when named head coach in 1965 at West Point after being an assistant coach from 1963. Nicknamed “The General”, Coach Knight ended up winning 902 games as a Division I head coach before retiring. Co-author of “The Power of Negative Thinking”, he definitely has his own perspective on winning and what it takes to get there.

We would like to invite members of the Alumni Association along with their spouses, kids and friends to share this evening banquet with our class on Saturday evening, June 22nd and hear Coach Knight’s comments as he accepts this award. These tickets will be on a first come basis based upon space availability. The dinner cost will be $85 per person. Benny Havens will begin at 6 pm with a cash bar.

Please email Larry Aubrecht at larry.aubrecht@gmail.com with your requests and then mail the check made out to “Class of 72 Mini Reunion” to:
                 Larry Aubrecht
                 5109 S. Dudley Street

Questions: Call Larry Aubrecht at 303-898-0595.

Accommodations – Prices range from $157/night for a 1 bedroom condo to $238/ night for a 3 bedroom condo. Keystone Lodge rate for a queen is $159.  Call direct to the Keystone Resort at 1-800-258-0437 and give group code: “GC4USM” to access our discounted group rates which are available from the Sunday before the start through the Wednesday after.
