3.  RECENT HEIGHTENED SECURITY AT WEST POINT:

The article at this link has been making the rounds among West Point class sites:   https://www.superstation95.com/index.php/world/625

It does appear there was a specific threat of some sort at West Point last weekend.  Here's a more recent posting from the Supe, on the Facebook page of the West Point Garrison Community.
To the West Point Community,

Thank you for your patience, vigilance, and understanding during recent increases in security measures, which affected access to our installation. As Superintendent, I am charged with the responsibility to protect this community and provide a safe and secure installation. Part of that responsibility is to act upon intelligence or law enforcement information in a way that best serves this community. The actions we took on Sunday were a result of that responsibility.

We take operational security very seriously, therefore we will not discuss specific threats or how long these security measures will remain in effect. Recent events, abroad and at home, have shown us the need to take prudent steps to ensure our force protection posture can be increased both quickly and effectively.

You should expect force protection adjustments like this to be the new norm. We will, as much as possible, communicate with you ahead of, during, or immediately following such actions, most likely via social media- West Point Garrison and Community on Facebook and on Twitter @USAGWestPoint. However, to ensure we effectively execute our force protection mission, random antiterrorism measures must be conducted at an unpredictable frequency, rather than in response to a specific threat.

If you see something, say something. Report any suspicious activity to local law enforcement authorities, which on West Point is 845-938-3333. Again, thank you for your patience and support. Please continue to be vigilant and look out for each other. Your help is a key.

Beat Navy!
