Weekly News & Agenda for Tuesday, 9/25/12

1. AGENDA FOR TUESDAY, 9/25/12:

0700-0800:  OPEN FORUM.
This week the floor is yours for general topics, personal updates, networking questions, and other discussion.

During the roundtable introductions, say as much or as little as you'd like about your current professional or personal focus, especially any networking needs.  Chances are good that someone in the group will have advice, contacts, or recommendations on next steps.  Even if you don't have immediate networking needs, come join us on Tuesday for the insightful discussion and long-term networking value.

3. JOB OPPORTUNITIES - Accounting & Engineering (Denver):

MarkWest Energy Partners has many job openings at their corporate office in Denver, as listed at  http://www.markwest.com/careers/current-openings/  If interested in any of these positions, apply as instructed on the site.

In addition to the accounting and engineering positions listed, they also expect to post an HR Manager opening soon.  Note also some positions in other parts of the country.

4. JOB/NETWORKING RESOURCE - LinkedIn Open Discussion Group:  

Denver-based RTL Networks, Inc has an open discussion group on LinkedIn that often includes job postings.  Visit  http://www.linkedin.com/groups/RTL-Networks-Inc-2901201 and sign up for the open discussion group to receive regular updates.  RTL Networks is headed by Biznet member Richard Lewis (USAFA '89).

5. VETERANS PASSPORT TO HOPE - 10/4/12:  

Less than two weeks to go before the Veterans Passport to Hope event, benefitting the Wounded Warrior Project, on the evening of Thursday, October 4th, at Wings Over the Rockies Air & Space Museum.  Visit www.vp2h.org to buy your tickets.

If you can't attend, or aren't sure you can attend, please consider signing up anyway, as all net proceeds will support the Wounded Warrior Project.  Visit the website above for all the background and details.  This major event is chaired by Biznet member Shane Schmutz (USMA '01), with key assistance from several other Biznet members on the organizing committees.

Service Academy BizNet of Denver meets weekly on Tuesdays at 0700, in the Marriott Hotel at the Denver Tech Center. From I-25, exit Belleview east, then turn north onto Syracuse Street. The Marriott lots are paid parking (approx $2-4), however you can park for FREE across the street at Garcia's Restaurant (we have their permission). Look for us in the seating area inside the Marriott's coffee shop. RSVP is not required. Dress is casual. Attendance is open to graduates of the federal service academies (USAFA, USCGA, USMA, USMMA, USNA).
