Weekly News & Agenda for Tuesday, 4/7/15

1. AGENDA FOR TUESDAY, 4/7/15:

0700-0720: Introductions & Networking Assistance.  Tell us a bit about yourself and any networking needs.  We'll do our best to help you with advice, referrals, job search assistance, and other networking needs.

0720-0800:  Speaker.  This week Biznet member J.J. Mackin (USNA '68) will share photos and discuss details from the recent keel-laying ceremony for the USS Colorado.  The USS Colorado (SSN 788) is a Virginia-class attack submarine under construction in Groton, CT and other sites.  Its commissioning is planned for late 2016.  J.J. is the chairman of the commissioning committee.  For more information, visit www.usscoloradocommittee.org.
 
2. SPEAKER SCHEDULE:

4/7/15 (this week):   J.J. Mackin - see above.

4/14/15:  Josh Kuehl will talk about the rapidly growing Big Data industry, with particular emphasis on the potential for privacy issues and how those are being addressed.

4/21/15:  Chris Grimes will discuss retirement planning and related topics.  Chris is a Certified Financial Planner (CFP) and partner of Bob Fretzs at New York Life.  He has taken over Bob's life insurance and financial investment advisory functions, while Bob focuses on health care insurance.

3. VET APPRECIATION BREAKFAST & SUCCESS FAIR - Aurora, 18 April:

All military veterans are invited to the 2015 Veterans Appreciation Breakfast & Success Fair, on Saturday, 18 April 2015, 0830-1200, at Wings Over The Rockies Air & Space Museum.  For more information, and to register for this FREE event, please visit www.successforveterans.org.

Service Academy BizNet of Denver meets weekly on Tuesdays at 0700, in the Marriott Hotel at the Denver Tech Center. From I-25, exit Belleview east, then turn north onto Syracuse Street. The Marriott lots are paid parking (approx $2-4), however you can park for FREE across the street at Garcia's Restaurant (we have their permission). Look for us in the seating area inside the Marriott's coffee shop. RSVP is not required. Dress is casual. Attendance is open to graduates of the federal service academies (USAFA, USCGA, USMA, USMMA, USNA). There are no dues or fees.
