1. AGENDA FOR TUESDAY, 12/20/11:

0700-0800: OPEN FORUM
Thanks to some great speakers, it has been several weeks since our last Open Fporum. We'll start with introductions as usual, with more time (since it's open forum) to go into some depth on what's happening in your world or any networking needs you have. It's also a good opportunity to delve into topics of general interest. So grab some coffee, meet some fellow grads, enjoy the discussion, and build your network in the process.

2. UPCOMING TUESDAY PROGRAMS:

12/27/11: Open Forum. We'll still meet on the Tuesday between the holidays, but will intentionally keep the agenda open for general discussion and networking.

1/3/12: Annual White Elephant Gift Exchange. Bring an unwanted (but wrapped) gift to unload on a fellow grad. Join us for this fun BizNet tradition to kick off another year.

For any future Tuesdays, if there's a speaker you'd like to invite, or if you'd like to lead a discussion yourself, just let me know (panicciaj@aol.com).

UPDATE/CORRECTION - Agenda for Tuesday, 12/13/11

Biznetters,

Our speaker for tomorrow is indeed CSM Woods from AUSA. Yesterday's posting/email might have caused some confusion, due to an error in another part of the email which incorrectly indicated an open forum for this week. Join us tomorrow (Tues, 13th) to hear CSM Woods discuss AUSA and the new requirements for military commanders to assist departing servicemembers in finding civilian work.

Ok, one more thing I must mention... Much as it pains me to say it, congrats to Navy for their win over Army on Saturday. That makes 10 in a row (ouch), but it does seem like Army is closing fast. And good luck to Air Force in their upcoming bowl game.

1. AGENDA FOR TUESDAY, 12/13/11:

0700-0730: INTRODUCTIONS & ASSISTANCE
During introductions we invite you to give a brief update on what's happening lately for you, and to also mention any networking needs we might be able to help with. This can include job search assistance, business advice, referrals, or other forms of networking help. Chances are good that someone in the group will have contacts in whatever field or industry you need help with.

0730-0800: PROGRAM/SPEAKER
Command Sergeant Major Bill Woods will talk with us about efforts to assist returning veterans with job placement and other needs. CSM Woods is with the Association of the United States Army (AUSA). For more information on AUSA, visit www.ausa.org . Thanks to Jason Clark (USMA '92) for inviting CSM Woods to speak with us.

This topic is timely given some recent BizNet discussions on ways we might assist in this area, not only as it pertains to the Army, but for veterans of all services.

In recent months Army commanders were given a directive to assist soldiers with job placement during the 12 months preceding their departure from active duty. http://www.wpwoundedwarriormentorprogram.com/content/view/537/1/
Perhaps there have been similar directives for commanders in the other services? Some of you have already offered various ideas on how we might be able to help. Our visit from CSM Woods this Tuesday is a good opportunity to delve into it a bit further.

2. UPCOMING TUESDAY PROGRAMS:

12/20/11: Speaker TBD, or Open Forum. If there's a speaker you'd like to invite, or if you'd like to lead a discussion yourself, just let me know (panicciaj@aol.com).

12/27/11: Open Forum. We'll still meet on the Tuesday between the holidays, but will intentionally keep the agenda open for general discussion and networking.

1/3/12: Annual White Elephant Gift Exchange. Bring an unwanted (but wrapped) gift to unload on some poor, unsuspecting soul. Join us for this fun BizNet tradition to kick off another year.
