Weekly News & Agenda for Tuesday, 5/27/14

1. AGENDA FOR TUESDAY, 5/27/14:

0700-0800:  Open Forum.  We'll focus on your networking needs and any topics of general interest to the group.  During the open forum discussion, there is more time to go into greater depth, if you choose, on what's new for you lately, especially anything we can help you with.

2. SPEAKER SCHEDULE:

5/27/14 (this week):  Open Forum.

6/3/14: TBD/Open. If you'd like to schedule a speaker (or lead a discussion yourself) for this date or any future Tuesday morning, please send a note to George Jenkins, at georgedjenkins4@gmail.com.

6/10/14: Sean Mune will speak on Disabled Veteran Canine Assistants. Sean is a veterinary technician and dog coach for the Dog E Network (dogenetwork.org). He seeks to educate the public on dog behavior, socialization, and rehabilitation so that owners are able to train in a more effective, humane manner. Sean actively promotes the health benefits of training animal companions for those suffering with physical and emotional ailments.

6/17/14:  We have a speaker tentatively scheduled (awaiting confirmation).

3.  FOR JOB SEEKERS -- NOTE THIS WEEK'S SPEAKER AT C-SPRINGS BIZNET:

Denver Biznetters who are job-searching might want to consider attending this week's Colorado Springs Biznet meeting, as their speaker will be Mark Chambers, President/CEO of Woodmoor Group.  Woodmoor is one of the top executive recruiting firms in Colorado, so this could be a good connection to make in your search.

Note that the C-Springs Biznet group now meets on a new day and new venue.  They meet on TUESDAYS, not Wednesdays, at Jason's Deli, 7455 N. Academy Blvd in Colorado Springs.

4.  MEMORIAL DAY

Let us remember the 1.3 million men and women who've made the ultimate sacrifice in defense of freedom.

Have a great week.

Change to BizNet Weekly Notifications

This is EXPECTED to be a final test of the Blog Notification system for BizNet.

Required actions:

PLEASE identify the new email address/domain as "Friendly" on your spam filter.  That email address is      biznet@mackinweb.net

Otherwise, our weekly emails will end up in your junk mail or spam folder.

Investigation, aided by a lot of LUCK revealed that the problem we were having seems to have been a change in the DMARC Policy by AOL.

while as a non-techy I'm not sure what all that means, it seems like the process for sending out the emails (ie., Feedburner.com) can no longer smoothly interface with the server that sends out the email under Joe P's name (ie., aol.com).  The fix was found to be changing the "FROM" email address to something other than aol.com and preferably to a private domain..

That's what we did. change the "FROM" address to biznet@mackinweb.net

so, we expect smooth sailing from here-on.

4.  COLORADO SPRINGS BIZNET UPDATE - New Venue and Day

Our sister group in Colorado Springs was recently displaced by a building issue.  After trying some new venues they've settled on a permanent location, which also means a new day of week for their weekly meetings.  Here's the new info:

Meeting Day/Time:  Tuesdays, 0700-0800.
Location:  Jason's Deli, 7455 N. Academy Blvd, Colorado Springs

Yes, this means the Springs Biznet meeting now conflicts with the Denver Biznet meeting, but they found an otherwise ideal situation with Jason's, available only on Tuesday mornings.
