3.  HOMELAND SECURITY INTEL ANALYST POSITION IN ALBUQUERQUE:

Thanks to Biznet member Larry Aubrecht (USMA '72) for passing along the following item from his network:

Mr. Simon Carl writes as follows:   I have recently made contact with the New Mexico Director of Homeland Security -- Greg Myers (retired USAF O-6).  He is newly appointed and feeling his way in the HS environment.  He is in need of a senior intel analyst to head up his fusion center.  Greg realizes these types are not easy to find (leadership/organizational skills)
and has asked me/I offered to help.  NM gov is not in a position to pay a significant salary, but this type of work might just appeal to someone who is getting ready to retire/has a passion for supporting HS and is interested in living in Albuquerque.  Please let me know if you have anyone in mind.

Here's the Duties in Jeffco:

Duties:

This board provides quality assurance and recommended policy guidance for Workforce Investment Act programs operated by Jefferson County. The Tri-County Workforce Board is responsible for identifying the region's workforce development needs and for the creation of a comprehensive strategy and policy framework to meet the workforce development needs of employers.

Membership shall also include the required WIA partners and representatives from economic development, community-based organizations, labor, vocational rehabilitation and educational agencies.
In areas where a public sector entity is a major employer in the region (e.g., prisons, universities, etc.), the organization(s) may be included in the private business sector majority.

Meetings:

Meetings are held on the first Tuesday of the month from 8:00 - 9:30 a.m.

Members and length of terms:

The number of members on the board may vary so long as the requirements of the Colorado Workforce Investment Act of 1998 and the Federal Workforce Investment Act of 1998 are met.
Appointments shall be made for two-year, staggered terms, beginning in July. A member may serve four consecutive terms.

Veterans Passport To Hope Launches Free Resource Portal For Colorado Veterans

Denver, CO, Monday, August 05, 2013—Veterans now have unprecedented access to services, organizations, and resources throughout Colorado. In addition to raising awareness about the issues veterans are facing upon returning from the battlefields in Iraq and Afghanistan, Veterans Passport To Hope recently unveiled the Colorado Resource Portal For Veterans – www.VeteransResourcePortal.com – which brings veteran friendly organizations to the fingertips of veterans and their families.

Veterans Passport To Hope believes that it is the responsibility of all Americans to participate in assisting the men and women who have returned home from multiple war zones over the past twelve years and are doing more than their part. Thousands of hours networking with organizations have led to the most comprehensive and detailed list of resources ever assembled; something that has never existed before in Colorado. From activities and community to mental and physical health, the Colorado Resource Portal For Veterans addresses eleven key categories of available resources.

Veterans Passport To Hope has also published a brochure of these resources which has been distributed throughout the Colorado community. The brochure has helped both veterans and veteran service officers identify appropriate organizations for transition and reintegration to the civilian world. Most importantly, the brochures and Resource Portal assist friends and family members who are looking to turn somewhere for help regarding the veteran in their life.
