0730-0800: PROGRAM/SPEAKER

BizNet member Lindy Blackburn (USMA '69) will discuss distressed property sales. Lindy is an agent with Coldwell Banker Residential Real Estate. His skillset includes expertise in distressed properties - a key sector in today's challenging real estate market.

4/3/12: Chaplain (MAJ) Shawn Menchion and his staff from USAFA will visit us to give a presentation on the Religious Respect Training Program (RRTP) underway at USAFA. Our previously scheduled speaker for this date (Tim Spelman) has graciously agreed to move his talk to May 1 so we could seize this opportunity.

4/10/12: John Toth with Veterans Green Jobs will talk about the programs underway to help veterans with employment opportunities in this rapidly growing industry.

Cardinal Peak, LLC, specializes in embedded and mobile product development for a diverse set of nationwide clients. We are based in Lafayette, Colorado. Cardinal Peak’s activities involve both custom development, where the engineering is conducted in-house under our supervision, and engineering staffing, where our engineers work on-site at the customer’s facility and are directly managed by them. Conducting both of these businesses requires an aggressive recruiting effort, as well as extensive business development activities.

Cardinal Peak is currently seeking a Director of Staffing. This person will be responsible for running Cardinal Peak’s staffing business. Responsibilities will include:
-- Overseeing the daily operations of the staffing business: P&L.
-- Developing and implementing a plan to expand it.
-- Establishing recruiting procedures, including resume tracking, interview methodologies, candidate evaluations, etc.
-- Enhancing and/or developing tools to conduct the business such as resume databases, customer contact lists, etc.

The successful candidate will have the following traits and experience:
-- 5+ years professional experience, including managerial responsibilities.
-- Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
-- Experience hiring and recruiting professionals.
-- A passion for interacting with customers, presenting to them, and understanding their needs.

3. BIZNET MEMBER SEEKS CORPORATE FINANCE POSITION:

After highly successful stints in financial sales, David Graves (USMA '97) is looking to make a shift to corporate finance. If you have a lead on any Denver-based corporate finance positions, please contact David directly, at david_graves11@yahoo.com.

-- Farmers Insurance District Sales Manager (2006-2008) - Responsible for managing 22 independent contractor agents representing $25 million in premium revenue. Responsible for the hiring and training of new agents. Full P&L responsibilities for district office personnel including the negotiation of leases, equipment, etc.

4. SUPPORT FOR THE WOUNDED WARRIOR PROJECT:

BizNet member Shane Schmutz (USMA '01) is hosting a large fundraising event (500+ attendees) to support Wounded Warrior Project™ (WWP). The event will be on October 4, 2012 at the Wings Over the Rockies Air and Space Museum. The West Point Society of Denver (WPSD) is a Supporting Sponsor for the event and is helping the project collect donations.

Shane has set up a website where you can find more information, http://www.veteranspassport2hope.org/ One item that Shane needs is an Event Sponsor. This sponsor will be the "Title Sponsor" for the event, meaning they'll receive a large amount of recognition. If your company wants to associate itself with helping the WWP, please contact Shane thru the above website.

5. VA HOSPITAL CONSTRUCTION JOB FAIR - March 23:

The Aurora Chamber of Commerce and Kiewit-Turner Construction announce the following:

We are excited to be holding our first job fair for the Replacement Medical Center Facility (aka the new VA Hospital).

Date: March 23
Doors open to the public 9am-noon
Location: Aurora Professional Learning and Conference Center
15701 E 1st Ave, Aurora, CO 80011

Event Purpose: The purpose of this job fair is to provide veterans and Coloradans a chance to work on this wonderful project. If there happen to be no opportunities for an attendee, we want them to at least walk away with a list of resources and opportunities. Please help us spread the word. We will be sending out an official notice for sharing later this week when we have the skills/types of people needed by our subcontractors.

Petraeus Book Signing, and VA Hospital Job Fair

Biznetters: Here are some upcoming events, as mentioned in our meeting this past Tuesday morning.

1. PETRAEUS BOOK SIGNING THIS SATURDAY AT TATTERED COVER BOOKSTORE:

Paula Broadwell (USMA '95 and former Biznet member) will be conducting a talk, Q&A, and book signing for her recent book All In: The Education of General David Petraeus. This event will occur this coming Saturday, March 10, 12:00 Noon, at the Tattered Cover bookstore at 2526 East Colfax Avenue, Denver. The book was released in late January and has been on the New York Times bestseller list for several weeks now.
