Agenda for Tuesday, 7 March 2017

1. AGENDA FOR TUESDAY, 7 MARCH 2017:

0700-0730:  Introductions.  Tell us what's new for you, especially any networking needs.  We can help with referrals, advice, job search assistance, and other networking help.

0730-0800:  Speaker -- Wes Biggers.

This week Wes Biggers will talk with us about business transitions.  Many thanks to Bob Fretzs (USAFA '71) for arranging to have Wes speak this week.

Mr. Biggers writes as follows:

The largest economic shift in history is approaching – and most people don’t see it.  We all know about the ‘Baby-Boomers’.  But think about what that generation has done.  As young men and women, they all entered the workforce where many found that there weren’t enough jobs – so they created their own.  The result is that the ‘boomer’ generation is the largest group of business owners of all the demographic groups – and they are all approaching retirement age RIGHT NOW.  For any business owner, the day that they separate from their business is inevitable – in one way or another.  Retirement is certainly the most desirable of the many options.  What will happen to those businesses – and the jobs that those businesses provide?

I will present an interesting perspective on the dynamics of business transitions, and how the coming wave of boomer retirement will affect those transitions.  If you are a business owner; if you know a business owner; if you work for a business owner; this information is relevant to you and how you shape your next 15 years of prosperity.

Wes is a former naval officer who served mostly in the nuclear power submarine community.  In the civilian world he has held CEO and Managing Director roles with significant experience purchasing, selling, owning, and growing privately held businesses.

2. SPEAKER SCHEDULE:

7 March (this week):  Wes Biggers - see above.

14 March:  TBD or Open Forum Networking.  This date is open for a speaker.  If you have one in mind, just let me know at panicciaj@aol.com.
