Weekly News & Agenda for Tuesday, 6 June 2017

Reminder:  Our meeting location is now the Embassy Suites on East Hampden.  See details below.

0700-0800:  Introductions, Networking, and Open Forum Discussion

On this 73rd anniversary of D-Day, and 75th anniversary of The Battle of Midway, join us to share what's new for you, especially any networking needs.  We can help with referrals, advice, job search assistance, and other networking help.  We also welcome any topics for general discussion.  Don't have immediate networking needs?  Come anyway to build your long-term network and enjoy the camaraderie among grads.

6 June (this week):  Open Networking - see above.

13 June:  This date is available for a speaker.  If you have one in mind, just let me know at

While the battle spanned several days, the events of 4 June 1942 (75 years ago today) were the most pivotal.  Here's a brief article from today's Washington Post, highlighting the extreme sacrifices by the torpedo squadrons that were decimated by the Japanese, but which arguably made possible the astounding success of the dive bombers that followed.

4.  SERVICE ACADEMIES GLOBAL SUMMIT - Washington, DC.  14-16 June 2017:

Thanks to Bob Fretzs (USAFA '71) for passing along this item.

5.  REMINDER -- We now meet at the Embassy Suites on East Hampden:

Our permanent meeting location is now the Embassy Suites Denver Southeast, at 7525 East Hampden Avenue, Denver, CO 80231.

The hotel is located 1 mile east of I-25, on the north side of Hampden, near Tamarac Square.  Map & directions:

Parking is free.  We meet in the Fourteener's Room.  Upon entering the hotel, proceed straight ahead to the large central atrium.  As you enter that area, the Fourteener's Room will be on your left.

Optional buffet-style breakfast is available for purchase, but is not a condition of attendance.  To purchase the breakfast, pay at the front desk.  Let them know you're with the Academy Biznet group, as that will get you the discounted breakfast prices -- $7.95 for the full hot breakfast, and $5.95 for cold breakfast (anything not prepared as you wait).

Have a great week.
