Agenda for Tuesday, 31 Dec 2019, and Final Notes on Networking Options

Please note:  Despite the holiday period, we will still meet this week - Tuesday, 31 DEC 2019.

1. AGENDA FOR TUESDAY, 31 DECEMBER 2019:

0700-0800:  Introductions. Assistance, and Open Forum Discussion.

During introductions, tell us a bit about yourself and any networking needs. We can help with referrals, advice, job search assistance, and other networking.  We also welcome topics of general interest for discussion.  


2. SPEAKER SCHEDULE:

No further BizNet meetings are scheduled after this week (31 Dec). 

3.  YOUR OPTIONS FOR CONTINUED NETWORKING AFTER OUR FINAL MEETING THIS WEEK: 

Unfortunately, our search of the past 2+ months has not succeeded in finding a new facilitator to take over that role.  That means this week's meeting (Tuesday, 31 Dec) will be our final one after more than 23 years of uninterrupted weekly meetings since the group's founding in 1996.  This weekly blog post/email will also discontinue. 

In the future, if someone steps forward to revive or reboot the group in some form, with or without facilitated in-person meetings, I assume they will strive to get the word out via last known rosters and/or via your local AOG, Society, alumni organization, etc.  

Meantime, here are some options for service academy grads in the Denver area who'd like to continue networking with each other:

• LinkedIn:  Our existing LinkedIn group is called Denver Service Academy BizNet and currently has 251 members.   https://www.linkedin.com/groups/2867368/

• Ad-Hoc Meetings:  While our scheduled meetings will discontinue after this week, the Embassy Suites remains an option for individual meet-ups of your choosing.  You're certainly free to make that happen and use the Embassy Suites (7525 East Hampden) as a meeting place if desired. Our informal, no-cost, verbal arrangement with the hotel has been to use any available seating/tables in their public area (the large atrium), which you could still do if desired.  Of course, any non-overnight guests who want to use their buffet for breakfast/coffee/etc. must pay first at the front desk. 

• BizNet in Colorado Springs:  The BizNet group in Colorado Springs remains alive and well.  Their weekly meetings are each Tuesday at 0700, with the same approach and casual format as we've had in the Denver BizNet group -- in fact the Springs group was a direct spin-off from our Denver group beginning in 2008.  They meet at Jason's Deli, 7455 North Academy Boulevard.  Their primary communication vehicle is a LinkedIn group called Service Academy Biznet Pikes Peak Region.  https://www.linkedin.com/groups/2848826/

Service Academy BizNet of Denver will have its final meeting on Tuesday, 31 Dec 2019, at 0700, in the Embassy Suites hotel at 7525 East Hampden Avenue, Denver, CO 80231.  From I-25, exit at Hampden, then proceed east for 1 mile, where the hotel will be on your left.  Parking at the hotel is free. Look for us at the conference table just outside the 14'ers Room, which is to your left as you enter the hotel's central atrium.  RSVP is not required. Dress is casual. Attendance is open to graduates of the federal service academies (USAFA, USCGA, USMA, USMMA, USNA).
